Ski resorts such as Braunlage or Hahnenklee offer ideal conditions for skiing and snowboarding, while cross-country skiers glide through snow-covered landscapes on well-groomed trails. Those who prefer a quieter pace can enjoy winter hikes, snowshoe tours or romantic carriage rides. The Brocken railway steams through white forests - an experience straight out of a fairy tale. The winter magic is rounded off with atmospheric Christmas markets and cosy evenings by the fire.
In summer, the Harz Mountains are at their liveliest: hiking enthusiasts can discover mystical paths through deep forests and past impressive cliffs on the Harz Witches' Trail. Mountain bikers and climbers will find exciting challenges, while families can look forward to adventure hiking trails, stalactite caves or a ride on the steaming Brocken railway. Refresh yourself at mountain lakes or the Rappbode Dam with its suspension bridge and zipline. The Harz Mountains in summer - full of exercise, nature and unforgettable views.
